The Great Blue Heron at Midtown

Hidden amongst the fast pace of Mankind’s ever increasing march of concrete Buildings and roadways. Nestled in the Grass at Midtown, in the Man-Made Wetlands of Charlotte, North Carolina a lone Great Blue Heron thrives, these area benefits our struggling wildlife.

The facts are that the Great Blue Heron have lost most of its natural habitat from Urban growth. And so these Man-made Wet land area’s are critical to the Heron’s survival and is part of the Stream and Wetland Restoration by the City of Charlotte. Great Blue Herons are protected by the Federal Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918.
