We found “NO Aloha for the Wai (water) and Aina (land)” about the continued problems with polluting, illegal dumping and other hazards at the ABC Junk Yard. So we have raised concerns again about the Pearl City “ABC Auto Parts” disposal of Auto Fluids with the State Department of Health Solid Hazardous Waste Branch.

Yesterday we also documented the continued runoff of Engine Fluids, Oils and Hazardous Chemicals into the Waiawa Stream and the Bike Path area located off of Lehua Ave.

Here are some of our Photo’s of the continued polluting of our Aina (Land) and what it looks like through out the Junk Yard, tons of discharged car parts, broken glass, plastics, metals and piles of illegal dumping polluting the Waiawa Stream area.

With the approach of the latest storm Kilo, we began to document the flooding from Kilo, that is creating Hazardous Run off from the ABC Junk Yard, and as the storm causes the Stream to Rise, you can clearly see that there is no protection against car parts and fluids flowing into the stream. As been documented in our past stories, the Engine Oils, car parts and Illegal dumping finds it way into the Stream. We have contacted City, Navy/DOD and State Officials for several years but the ABC Junk Yard area continues to be a problem for the environment and a convenient Illegal Dump site for many.

Is this what Paradise looks like in Pearl City.

Why does the City, the State, the Navy/DOD and the Army Corps of Engineers continue to turn a blind eye or to take any real corrective action to stop the polluting and to protect Hawaii’s precious resources, our Aina (Land) and Wai (Water)?

What do you think about this?

Also, here are some links to past story about the continued abuse of the Environment, the illegal dumping and other problems and concerns along the ABC Auto Parts Junk Yard area:

Hawaii News Now reported back in January 2015 how that : “Environmental watchdog Carroll Cox of Envirowatch, who’s been monitoring the area, said the pile has been growing.”

“Many years now this has been a problem area, an accumulation of trash of all sorts,” said Cox. “Chemicals and waste and plastics and household goods, refrigerators, washers, dryers, oil — you name it.”

“There are signs that a few homeless people camp here, but Cox said most of the items are simply trash that has been dumped there. Some mattresses in the heap look like new arrivals, unlike a nearby couch which appears worn and dirty.”

“There are also some possible hazardous materials that have been left in several spots in the heap and along the roadway.” – read the full story – posted on – January 24, 2015 – “Concerns grow along with illegal trash dump in Pearl City” – Here:

Back in 2006 the ABC Auto Parts Junk Yard was fined by the State of Hawaii but a decade later the Junk Yard – ABC Auto Parts, continues to operate still polluting the environment – read part the Star Bulletin Article – “On Oahu, Pearl City’s ABC Auto Parts was fined $24,240 after the Department of Health found about 1,000 vehicles containing potentially hazardous fluids stacked on an unprotected surface at its lot on March 29.” and “The company’s solid-waste management permit requires them to drain vehicles of fluids before piling them.” read the full article here:
