Veterans Affairs Secretary Robert McDonald is visiting the Hawaiian Islands this week to ignite and launch better Initiatives for our Veterans. The VA Secretary is arriving in Honolulu to drive a renewed formula for our growing Veteran population, that will reflect a more modern 21st Century approach that strategizes a response that meets the Veterans individual needs.

With Hawaii leading in many of the national statistics. The VA Secretaries visit here to our Islands demonstrates his commitment to regain the trust of our Veterans and Congress, to address and correct the mismanagement and shortfalls of the past with the Veterans Affairs. And to be his brothers/sisters keeper and to ensure that no Soldier is left behind, denied services or that a Veteran has to navigate the VA system alone. Secretary McDonald is demanding accountability, transparency and change to address the growing issues for our Veterans population – like Homelessness, untimely and inadequate access for many Veterans to VA Health Care, Veteran Suicides, dealing with PTSD, disability claims, and the need for our Veterans to have a successful transition from a Military Career to the Civilian world, access to higher education and a long term goal by the VA that gives support to the continued self betterment of the individual Veteran, while holding the VA accountable to ensure only high standards for a better quality of life for all Veterans here in Hawaii and Nationally.
