Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard & Staff denies Veterans services, ignores inquiry

We share a copy of the email inquiry below that we sent to Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard & her Staff requesting a response to the accusations told to us by Veteran and Double Amputee Charles Canamar.

And as typical of Congresswoman Gabbard, we have received no response from Congresswoman Gabbard or her staff.

Mr. Canamar claimed he was denied services and even asked to leave Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbards offices by her Staff. Gabbard’s reason for denying Mr. Canamar any help, was Mr. Canamar’s associated with me and because of my outreach and help I had given to Mr. Canamar, to obtain his 2 artificial Legs that the Hawaii VA has had laying on a shelf for more than 2 years.

This was a top story by Hawaii News Now – Charles pleas to the President and hopes to meet President Obama, Friday Dec 27, 2013 in the morning in Kailua.

Subject : Veteran Charles Canamar stated your offices denied him services and asked him to leave because of his association with and help from me.

To Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard,

I was informed by fellow Veteran Charles Canamar, yesterday June 29, 2014, that at his visit to your Honolulu offices and directly with your staff last week. Mr. Canamar stated that his visit was to ask for help and assistance from you, with his ongoing plight for more than 2 years as a double amputee, to get his 2 artificial legs from the VA and for you to investigate the VA’s denial to give Mr. Canamar his 2 artificial legs. And to look into the denial of additional services and benefits, Mr. Canamar believes he has been denied, along with help to access to his service records for his VA disabilities claims and benefits. The VA Verbally cancelled Mr. Canamar 2 artificial legs in September 2013, without any written notification to Mr. Canamar. But instead of help from you and your staff, Mr. Canamar stated to me, that your staff and offices denied him any services and asked him to leave because of his associated with me (Tina Quizon).

Mr. Canamar stated to me that your staff asked Mr. Canamar, if he was associated with me (Tina Quizon). Mr. Canamar stated that when he told your staff, “yes, that I (Tina Quizon), have helped many Veterans, and that, yes, I had also helped him and went with him on the Handi Van to the Secret Service’s Compound in Kailua for 2 weeks in December 2013, to seek out President Obama”.

Mr Canamar had my help while attempting to meet and to ask for President Obama’s help, to get Mr. Canamar’s his 2 artificial legs from the Veterans Affairs. Mr. Canamar stated he told your staff that I had also coordinated the Media Coverage by KGMB which was a national story about Veteran Charles Canamar ‘s, 2 year wait and delays by the VA for his 2 artificial legs. Also my help in the coordinating with Mr. Carroll Cox Radio show in regards to Mr. Canamar’s plight and the VA’s denial to give Mr. Canamar his 2 artificial legs, which the VA Verbally cancelled and without any written notification to Mr. Canamar.

As verified by the manufacturer to the media, the manufacturer had questioned the VA’s actions for timely delivery, and then in regards to the VA ‘s decision to not give Veteran Canamar his 2 artificial legs , even though the manufacturer had the prior VA Doctor/Board certification approval to manufacturer the 2 legs. The manufacturer had billed the VA a $20,000 invoice for the manufacturing of the 2 artificial legs, which the VA ignored and the invoice went unpaid by the VA to the manufacturer. Mr. Canamar, stated to me, that after hearing Mr. Canamar’s response, your staff offered no help or any services, that your staff told Mr. Canamar they did not want to talk with him, and refused any further dialog, only asking Mr. Canamar to leave because of his associated with me (Tina Quizon).

Congresswoman Gabbard, did your staff, yes or no, denied Mr. Charles Canamar services and asked him to leave your offices because Mr. Canamar’s associated with me (Tina Quizon)?

I respectfully request confirmation and a written response to my question and Mr. Charles Canamar alleged statement that your staff at the Honolulu offices denied him services and asked him to leave because of Mr. Canamar’s associated with me (Tina Quizon).

I certainly hope that this type of behavior is not tolerated or is the encouraged outcome by your staff ,”to deny Veterans help and services”, that this is what Mr. Charles Canamar and my fellow Veterans can expect and receive from you and your offices.
