Jobette and her Family arrived in Spokane, WA today, accompanied by her trainer Papa “Fred” Pereira. With Papa “Fred” in her corner at ringside, JoBette is definitely one knock out to watch for. And if all goes well and JoBette takes the final win, as the U.S. Champion, her next Bout will be representing the USA in the Olypmics.

JoBette loves a full schedule and challenges. When JoBette is not boxing, the 28 year old, works one on one with Kids who have Disabilities at the local school. Her company Bayada and the kids she helps, are inspired by her. The community is cheering for JoBette back in Hilo and across the Hawaiian Islands. JoBette shared that she is so fortunate to have Papa “Fred” by her side.

Papa is a humble, yet famous Trainer, who can be found in the Waianae gym. Papa “Fred” has over 40 years of experience in the ring training Hawaii’s boxers. In 2013 Papa “Fred” had successfully brought 2 youths, Asa Stevens, a 13 year old and 4.0 Student, along with 15 year old Eric Martinez, and 56 years old Alan Nomura to the St.Louis Boxing Nationals last summer. All 3 brought home the championship belts back to Hawaii, it is Papa Fred’s and others hope to re-ignite the spirit of boxing in Hawaii.

Hawaii was once an international crowd pleaser. Known for having sold out, standing room only, boxing events from as early as the 1930’s all the way to the 1970’s.

The Elite Boxing Nationals will hold the Preliminary Bouts at the HUB Sports Center in Spokane WA,starting on Monday January 20 through Wednesday January 22, 2014 with a 5 p.m. session on Monday and Tuesday and two sessions at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
