The Board of Water Supply was notified before 11 A.M. today, Wedsnesday July 3i, 2013 of a break in the 8 inch water main at the Waimalu Plaza in front of  Subway and Starbucks.

At about 10:pm a spokes person for the BOWS told us that ” BOWS crews had delayed the work for more than 8 hours,  because of the  shopping centers managements request to delay the repair and not close off traffic into the Shopping center to repair the broken water main break, as to not interrupt the local businesses. It is unclear of the integrity and the further damages to the under ground area that may have occurred because of the delay and the amount of water that was lost because of the Honolulu Board of Water Supply holding off for more than 8 hours to do the repair to the broken pipe.

Flairs along the entrance at 98-1277 Kaahumanu street notified drivers  of the work and a large sign warned motorist that the road had been closed down .

No word on how long the repair  to the water main will take. The  Waimalu Plaza is managed by City Square Management Company.
